Hope Regional Airpark, Hope, BC (CYHE)
Correctly identified first by Jim Snow. Boasting the longest grass runway in Canada (over 4000'), Hope is a beautiful strip in the Fraser River Valley 150 km east of Vancouver, BC. The airport is just west of the very pleasant and historic town of Hope, and sits between the Trans-Canada Highway and rail line, and the Fraser River. Boeing once tested 737 aircraft here - it must have been quite a sight to see those jets roaring down the runway! Today, Hope plays host to several fly-in events annually, and is home to an active soaring club. It's a very friendly place and makes a very easy (and surprisingly quick) flight up from Washington state.
It sits aside a major highway, rail line, and a river.
A major Northwest aircraft manufacturer once used this strip for flight testing.
