Sunriver has New bikes!
« on: May 24, 2012, 01:39:12 AM »
Sunriver Resort recently repaired and added some new bikes to their fleet of complimentary bikes exclusively set aside for their fly in guests. The resort has 23 miles of bike paths and offers everything from horse back riding to canoe trips. Recently,  the home Owners Association, opened a new $18 million aquatic Center called SHARC which features many pools, water slides and a lazy river. The facility is open to the public for a fee. Sunriver is a great destination, even just for a day trip. Fuel is very reasonable, I paid $5.60 for self serve 100ll (5-20-2012)

Photographed  on 5-20-2012 ...Bikes ready for use.

On my list of places to fly this summer in Sunriver, thanks for the PIREP! At this time did you find DA or Thunderstorms to be an issue getting in and out?

I've only scared myself twice on departures. Once was at Bandon, OR the other was at Sunriver, OR. Weight & Balance and Density Altitude shall not be overlooked!

I was there two weeks ago.  Great facility.  Great people.  Great weekend.  Be sure to ask for the "pilot special" and/or the "stranded pilot special" when you make room reservations.

Just recently returned from Sun River. As previously stated, there is a lot to offer in the summer time if you want to get more adventure than flying when you arrive. Everyone there was very friendly and the gas was surprisingly cheaper than some places up here in NW Washington. Had plenty of bikes and sounds like if you give them a call ahead of time they can probably work a shuttle out if you are bringing a few more bags and staying a while.

Tie down was $10 per night for standard singles and up from there depending on twin/size/etc....

It definitely was in the 90's mid-day though departure could be a problem depending on weight and DA as previously stated.

Also had a thunderstorm with hail big enough to dent my car (sadly I drove this time)....wonder how the airplanes faired.

After talking to a Sunriver rep: The "pilot special" lodge pricing is available when demand is low so you are unlikely to get a reduced rate during the high season. During the low season, expect a room available for $99.

Maybe silly question, when are the high and low seasons?  Is it primarily summer that's the busy time, or does winter bring up demand as well?
