Forks NOTAM
« on: May 17, 2017, 03:48:46 PM »
Please be advised that the City of Forks requested that FAA Flight Services publish a NOTAM (Notice to Airmen) indicating that the Forks Municipal Airport (S18) will be closed starting at 5 p.m., Thursday, 18 May 2017 (or 2359Z, 18 May 2017) through 5 p.m., Sunday, 21 May 2017 (or 2359Z, 21 May 2017).  Seattle NOTAM #05/237 taken by “b.m.”  This covers the May West End Thunder event.

For those who don't know, "West End Thunder" is a drag racing event,
and pretty popular for only being on a 1/8 mile track.
They've been doing it on the Forks airport S18 runway for several years now,
NOTAM'ing the airport closed for long one weekend each month from May to Sept.
I've always wanted to go, but have yet to get around to it, kind of a long drive out there.
A person could always fly out and land at Quillayute KUIL,
but it's a long ways into Forks from there so not very practical unless you have a ride arranged.
