Golf Courses & Airports
« on: May 14, 2017, 07:06:25 PM »
This question is for those who enjoy both golfing and flying. I was wondering which airports in the PNW are within walking distances to golf courses. Being from Vancouver, Canada, we have a few airports that I've landed at (Rowena, Nanaimo and Tofino) that have their own taxiways and aprons near or at the golf course. Thanks for your help!

Both Lopez Island airport S31 and Chehalis airport KCLS are right next to a golf course.

Mabel Lake. Call ahead for landing permission.
Caution: Cape does not enable user to fly.

BTW: It may be beneficial to rate these golf courses as well.

If you want to fly over the mountains, take a look at Sand Canyon 1S9, Chewelah, WA.  It is a fun airport and what looks like fun golfing too.

Salishan Lodge and Spa on the Oregon Coast. Adjacent to Siletz Bay Airport. In the past the resort would send a car to pick you up. Call and ask. Although the airport is right next to the 18 hole golf course, in the past there was no easy way to walk except along the road.

Friday Harbor has a course about a mile away.  I don't golf and cannot recall if it's a 18 hole course or not.

Just called the lodge and confirmed they do pick you up from the airport! No need to make a reservation beforehand, just call guest services and they will send the shuttle over.  ;D

S45, Siletz Bay State Airport, OR, has NO services, so do not expect to fuel up there.

Discovery Bay Golf Course (formerly Chevvy Chase) is just off the departure end of 27 at Jefferson County.
Just a mile or so as the Cessna flies, but unfortunately quite a bit further by road.
Looks like a pretty smalltime outfit to me, so I doubt they have a car (or limo!) to send, but there's always a taxicab.
Supposedly someone in town is doing Uber rides now, but the few times I've heard about someone trying it they're apparently not-in-service.
Also a golf course in town, and a couple in Port Ludlow.
About three in Sequim but unfortunately not within walking distance of W28.
