Aviation Summer Camp
« on: June 10, 2016, 12:19:43 PM »
Hi pilots based on or near Pearson Field (KVUO),

I wanted to make sure that you were aware that the Pearson Field Education Center (PFEC) is now taking applications for this year’s highly popular aviation summer camps. As pilots, you have a special interest in aviation so I did not want you to miss the chance to pass this on to a young person in your family, or someone you may know.

If you are the mom, dad, aunt, uncle, or grandparent (or know someone who is) of a young person ages 9-17 this is a fantastic way to ignite their love of aviation and make some lasting memories this summer.

PFEC’s highly popular 5-day camps provide unique hands on STEM learning experiences combined with an appreciation for historic people and events only possible at the second oldest airfield in the United States, historic Pearson Field. More than just aviation, PFEC is about discovery and possibilities.

This year’s five camps are being held:
•   June 28-July 2 (RC Camp at Pearson)
•   July 12-16 (at Camas-Washougal)
•   July 26-30 (at Pearson)
•   August 9-13 (at Pearson)
•   August 23-27 (at Pearson)
There are still spots available in all 5 session, but they are filling quickly.

Camps include:
•   Learning the principles of aviation and basics of flight in class, with hands on projects, and our flight simulators.
•   Behind the scenes operations tours of a regional airline at PDX.
•   Tour of PDX tower.
•   Day trip to the Western Antique Aeroplane and Automobile Museum in Hood River.
•   Building and learning to fly a radio controlled plane (RC camp).
•   Piloting a real airplane with an instructor (Aviation 101 camp), and more.
Honestly, this combination of activities is simply not available any other way than through PFEC summer camp, and would be fun for most of us adults!

More information is available on line at or contact Deborah Bessett (, 360.992.1815).

Registration form is available at:
If you are not familiar with PFEC, or it has been a while since you were, take a look at their Facebook page to see some of the great activities, learning, and fun taking place there each week:
